There is No Doubt That It Was So Named Because of the Elm Trees Lining the Carriageway from the Main Road To the House. These Elms Have Long Since Gone and Today Large Lime Trees Flank the Drive. In 1840 the Country House Becain 1854 It Was Occupied near Rev. Pearson, Director of Great Witley. In 1916 It Was Leased To Sir Richard Brooke, a Well Know Racehorse Breeder. He Bought the Elms in 1927 and Re-Sold It in 1946 To the Moton Family Who Then Turned It Into a Country House Hotel.
